Learning Disabilities Related to Vision

Making the most of a good education depends on optimal vision. 1 in 6 school-age children experience learning difficulties that are attributed to vision conditions. Many of these youth have average or above-average intelligence, but may be working below their capacity for learning. Oftentimes they are classified as learning-disabled. A comprehensive eye examination can distinguish if the symptoms a child exhibits are indicative of a vision-related problem rather than or in addition to a learning disability, and if the symptoms of one condition exacerbate the other. To the left are learning disabilities relevant to vision.
